FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION
Belhaven has hosted an exciting Independence Day Celebration since the early 1900s. A family day of
festivities is high-lighted by a mile-long parade and closing with an exciting display of fireworks
illuminating the sky over the waters of the Pungo River. To
contact the committee that coordinates the parade, email the
chamber at
info@belhavenchamber.com or call 252-943-3770.
PLANNING A VACATION?
Belhaven is located on the Intracoastal Waterway and is readily accessible to those traveling by either
boat or vehicle. Lodging is available with restaurants specializing in local seafood and southern home
cooking. There is also a campsite 15 minutes from Belhaven.
INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY
The Atlantic Coast Intracoastal Waterway runs from New England to South Florida.
Belhaven's quaint and
picturesque harbor serves as port of call for several thousand vessels plying this waterway each year.
SHOPPING
For many years
Belhaven has been a trade center for eastern Beaufort County and Hyde County. A
variety of stores, composing the town, can fill most of shopper's needs. The town's retailers exhibit friendly
and personal service not found in much of our hectic society.
HEALTH CARE
Since 1949, the quiet banks of the Pungo River have provided a home for
Pungo District Hospital. This small rural hospital has unique
characteristics that few health care facilities can claim--a solarium
filled with beautiful shrubs and flowers, given in memory of Mr. Clyde
Potter, and the helipad (helicopter landing pad) or the water ambulance
dock located on the hospital grounds. By land, sea or air Pungo District
Hospital is a attraction in Belhaven.
